This Website and You

How can this website benefit you and your aspirations of becoming a great piano player?

As stated in the mission statement, I have written this website to teach prospective piano players basic music reading and piano playing skills. You may use the resources listed on this site, most notably the step-by-step music reading and playing piano tutorials, as guidelines to help you progress towards your piano goals.

Suggested Use of Website (if it's the primary source of information):

Read one section everyday, making sure you understand every concept mentioned. Start at the beginning of the Reading Music Tutorial and go through the lessons until the end. Take a break when you finish Reading Music and reflect on what you've learned. Then, begin the Playing Piano Tutorial. Note: You don't need to read the additional info sections, but they could benefit you if you do.

However, this website is not intended to be the definitive solution to all your piano problems. It is most helpful when used in conjunction with private lessons because you will get immediate answers for your questions, unlike a website, where the webmaster may take a while to respond to your queries.

Suggested Use of Website (in conjunction with private lessons):

Read up on the section of whichever concept your teacher tells you. This should complement your teacher's lesson and should reinforce some forgotten or misunderstood concepts.

As you practice and reinforce, practice and reinforce, you'll find that you understand quite a lot about reading music.
