Coordination Tips & Guidelines

Tip: Remember NOT to look at the keyboard while reading music because you don't want to get into the habit of switching back and forth between two distances (and besides, it also looks tacky). You should memorize all the keys and notes so that when you read music, you know which key to play without checking.

Tip: Remember to keep different fingers on a different keys. This will minimize your chances of hitting wrong keys or hitting more than one key.

Tip: If at first you can't play with both hands together, play with one (usually the right) hand first, then switch to the other. Then, play with both hands.
