Playing the piano goes hand in hand with reading music. We read notes with our eyes and play the corresponding key on the piano. This skill is crucial to master because most music is preserved in music notation form. Being able to read music means being able to play whichever song we want, unlike playing by ear, which is only limited to what we hear and remember.
In the last tutorial, we learned about the different notes and how each note on the five-bar staff represents a different key on the piano. In this lesson, we'll revisit the use of letters to identify notes and keys, so brush up on your notes and keys.
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to play a short piece by reading its music notation.
