Introduction to Playing Piano

So you've just bought/rented/seen a piano, and you're so exicted to play a song. But then you look at all the keys and gasp! Where do you begin?

Luckily, we won't even touch two thirds of the piano until we get into intermediate level music. So if you're just beginning piano, don't feel overwhelmed by the scope of the keyboard. This Playing Piano Tutorial is designed to help you understand it, with little to no fear involved.

Purpose of Tutorial

Throughout this tutorial, you'll learn the about basics of playing piano, so that you'll have a solid foundation of piano knowledge to build on when you progress to higher playing levels.

What You'll Learn

By reading this tutorial, you'll learn about finding different pitches, recognizing octaves, translating written music notation into keys on the piano, and more about the piano.

What else should you know?

However, remember that the most important thing is not just reading, but actually practicing the material. It's true that reading leads to understanding, but practical experience synthesizes learning much faster.

So my last bit of advice is... practice, practice, practice!
