Main Theme

The main theme of Canon in D is used throughout the entire piece, with many variations in-between. Once you learn the basic tune of the theme, you'll know the underlying tune of the whole song.

Tips to play:

  1. To begin, position your right hand over the notes E-D-C-B-A with Middle C under your third finger.
  2. The theme is part of the C Scale, spanning 6 notes. To play the 6th note easily, cross over your index finger to the left after playing the 5th note with your thumb.

Remember:

 Remember what note the main theme begins with (E) and what note the main theme ends with (B).

 Remember which finger to play the first note with (5) and which finger to play the last note with (2).
