Clefs

Clefs are the symbols that appear at the beginning of all staves. They denote the pitch (high or low) of notes on their respective staff.

The Treble Clef is for notes of high pitch.

Piano Connection: Because higher pitches are closer to the right side of the piano, we usually play notes on the Treble Clef with our right hand.

The Bass Clef is for notes of low pitch.

Piano Connection: Because lower pitches are closer to the left side of the piano, we usually play notes on the Bass Clef with our left hand.
