Recall from Lesson 1 that the vertical position of note heads determines its pitch and also, that every line/space in music notation represents a different pitch. When notes are placed on top of staves, the note becomes a marker that represents the pitch to be played.
There is a direct relationship between the bar height and the pitch degree. The lower the note is on the staff, the lower the pitch to be played, and the higher the note is on the staff, the higher the pitch to be played.
There is no other way to describe this concept, except to practice with the aid of letters.
