Notes to the Keyboard

This section is also exclusively for the piano, as I can't think of another way to describe the relationship between pitch and music notation.

Piano Connection:

In this section, we'll begin to understand the relationship between music notation and piano keys through their shared concept of pitch.

As you recall, every pitch in an octave is identified by a unique letter name. Since every line/space in music notation and every piano key represent unique pitches, we can use letters to represent notes in music notation and keys on the piano. Thus, we can easily read notes in music notation and translate them to keys on the keyboard and vice versa, like below.

If you understand this relationship between music notation and the keyboard, you will be able to read music very well, with practice, of course.
